Firefighters were able to bring the fires under control within hours of the incidents
Two separate fire incidents have gutted a cotton warehouse, and garment scrap warehouses, in Gazipur.
The incidents occurred in Gazipur's Konabari and Dewalia Bari around 11:30pm on Saturday.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Joydebpur Fire Service Station Inspector and Konabari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) said: "A cotton warehouse of Kia Spinning Mills in the area was gutted by fire on Saturday night. The fire originated, around 11pm, from an electric short circuit. The fire spread very quickly and the warehouse was locked during the fire.
"Seven firefighting units operated for more than an hour to bring the fire under control."
Meanwhile, confirming that the Kaliakoir fire gutted 15 garment scrap warehouses, Kaliakoir Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director of Moniranjan Sarker said: "The fire started around 9pm on Saturday. A total of 15 cotton warehouses were gutted by the fire.
"Six firefighting units worked for more than three hours to bring the fire under control. We are yet to determine the cause of the fire."
