The president of the school executive committee hopes to have a new academic building within a short period of time

A third grader has been injured after plaster from the ceiling of a classroom fell on him at a school in Narayanganj on Wednesday.

The injured student was identified as Md Tushar Ahmed. He studies at North Ajibpur Government Primary School in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.

Plaster from the ceiling fell on Tushar during a class at around 12pm, sources said. The student was given primary treatment.

After hearing about the incident, the school’s Executive Committee President Ariful Haque Hassan went to the site of the accident and shifted students out of the school building.

“Classes at the old academic building had been closed, but we were forced to use them due to a shortage of classrooms,” Ariful said.

He added that MP Shamim Osman had visited the school last year and given assurances that they would get a new academic building.

“I hope we get the new academic building very soon,” Ariful further said.

Siddhirganj police station OC Md Kamrul Islam said he had visited the site of the accident and the matter was under investigation.
