A fourth-grade boy abducted for ransom from Agran village in Baraigram upazila of Natore, on Sunday, was rescued from Sadullapur upazila in Gaibandha on Thursday night.
Police also arrested three people – Ishan Ahmed Sohag, 23, Nurzahan, 48, Nargis Akhter, 25 – in this connection.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Natore Superintendent of Police Saifullah Al Mamun said a Class IV student of Agran Government Primary School, resident of Agran village, was abducted from their home by Sohag, who had supposedly called the child’s mother his sister.
The abductors demanded Tk3 lakh in ransom from his family over the phone.
Following the demand, the child’s father informed police of the incident, said the SP.
Police also suggested the father send Tk5,000 over bKash as advance to the abductor, said the police official. "Using mobile tracking, police arrested the abductor’s wife, Nargis, from Narayanganj town as she was withdrawing the money."
Police told Sohag they would release Nargis if he let the child go.
Using this ploy, police were able to arrest Sohag and rescue the child from Gaibandha.
A case has been filed in this connection.
