Feni headteacher remanded for raping fifth-grader

The accused has confessed to committing the crime

A Feni Court has placed a school headteacher on a two-day remand for allegedly raping a fifth-grader.

Senior Judicial Magistrate ASM Imran of Cognizance Court 3 issued the remand order on Monday.

The accused, Abdul Karim, 55, headteacher of Khushipur Primary School, gave provided a confessional statement before the court on Sunday.

Feni Sadar Hospital confirmed that the child is pregnant.

Daganbhuiyan police station OC Saleh Ahmed Pathan said police sought a five-day remand after produce Abdul Karim before the court, but the court granted two days.

On April 5, the rape survivor’s elder sister filed a rape case with Daganbhuiyan police station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

Abdul Karim was arrested and sent behind bars after the case was filed.
