The incidents happened in Bandarban and Pirojpur districts
At least 30 students got sick in Bandarban and Pirojpur districts after taking deworming tablets on Monday.
In Bandarban, six female students of Bandarban Govt Girls School became sick after taking the medicine in the morning, said our correspondent S Bashu Das.
Head Teacher, Smriti Kona Dey, said 8,00 students of the school were given the pills.
Six of them started vomiting after 20 minutes. They were admitted to Bandarban Hospital.
Civil Surgeon Dr Mahtab Uddin said there was nothing to be afraid of.
“The students will get well soon,” he added.
In Pirojpur, 24 students of Naotana BM Secondary School in the district’s Nazirpur upazila, got sick after taking the medicine in the morning, reported our correspondent Arif Mostofa.
Shah Ali Ashraf, head teacher of the school, said the students fell sick as they took deworming tablets on empty stomachs.
The students were sent to the Nazipur Upazila Health Complex following the incident.
Doctors said there was nothing to be worried about as deworming tablets sometimes may cause vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and nausea, when the tablets work properly against worms in children’s stomachs.
School students aged 6-11 across the country, were given deworming tablets in observance of National Deworming Week which, started on Saturday.
