A woman and three of her children have sustained burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in Narayanganj.

The incident occurred on the third floor of Bismillah Twin Tower in Fatullah's Giridhara residential area around 8:30pm on Saturday.

The injured are Fatima Begum, 35, wife of building owner Abdur Rahim, their sons Saif Ali, 15, and Safwan Ali, 10, and daughter Fariha Akhter Farzana, 12.

All of them sustained severe burn injuries and are undergoing treatment at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Fatullah model police station, said: "We have visited the blast site on Sunday morning. The doors and windows of the apartment were damaged due the explosion."

He said they were suspecting that the explosion was caused by a Liquid Petroleum (LP) gas cylinder leak, used for kitchen stove.

The matter is being investigated, the OC added.
