2 RU students die after ‘taking excessive liquor’

Another student from Ruet is currently receiving treatment at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital 

Two students of Rajshahi University have died reportedly after consuming excessive liquor.

The deceased are Muhtasim Rafid Khan, a second-year student of the law department, and Turzo Roy, a first-year student of the economics department.

A third student from the computer science department at the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rakib Hassan, is currently at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) receiving treatment.

The duo died at RMCH on Sunday, said Alfaz Hossain, owner of the mess-house where the two lived. 

University Proctor Prof Dr Lutfor Rahman said: “The two students lived at a mess-house in Ramchandrapur area near the university.

“They took liquor on Friday night. As they fell sick, they were taken to the hospital where Muhtahim died around 4am and Turzo around 8am.”
