Suspected robber killed in Dharmapur mob beating

The incident occurred after a group of robbers broke into a home and stabbed three people

A suspected robber has been killed in a mob beating in Hajirhat Bolir Dokan area, of Dharmapur union in Sadar upazila, in Noakhali. 

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday when a group of robbers broke into Samsu Master's house and stabbed three people. 

Locals gathered, upon hearing screaming from the home, and caught one of the suspected robbers as he attempted to flee. 

The deceased—identified as Foyez, 50—hailed from Chauddagram, Comilla.

The three injured people—Sania Begum, 25; Md. Ibrahim, 35; and Arif Hossain Tarif, 32—were admitted to Noakhali General Hospital. Among them, Ibrahim was sent to Dhaka for better treatment as his condition was critical.

Dharmapur Union Council Chairman Siddiqur Rahman Sabu said: "Locals caught one the perpetrators who had attempted to flee; the mob beating eventually killed the suspected robber. Police have recovered the body."

Sudharam Model police station Sub Inspector (SI) Nepal Chandra said: "Upon receiving information, we recovered the body and sent it to Noakhali General Hospital Morgue for autopsy. His identification as hailing from Chauddagram was confirmed by his mobile phone."
