During the protest, district Chhatra League leaders demanded the dismissal of Abdul Mannan and Kamruzzaman within 24 hours
Protesting an attack on its leaders, Brahmanbaria Zila Chhatra League on Tuesday demanded the dismissal of Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Abdul Mannan and Assistant Commissioner of Land of Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila Md Kamruzzaman.
During the protest, from 11am to 1pm, Chhatra League activists torched a tyre in front of Brahmanbaria Press Club and blockaded the main road of the town.
President of Brahmanbaria Zila Chhatra League Robiul Hossain Rubel alleged: ‘’On March 31, the fourth phase of upazila parishad polls was held in Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila.’’
“On the polling day, Abdul Mannan stayed in Brahmanbaria Sadar as an opponent of Awami League chairman candidate Md Jahangir Alam and commanded Kamruzzaman to beat Chhatra League leaders waiting outside the poll centre. Afterwards, the law enforcers severely beat up our leaders.”
During Tuesday's protest, district Chhatra League leaders demanded the dismissal of Abdul Mannan and Kamruzzaman within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, traffic on the main road came to a standstill during the protest, causing sufferings to commuters for hours.
