70 detained with liquor from the Mary Anderson

During the raid, 1,863 cans of beer, 40 bottles of wine were seized

Police seized 81 cartons of foreign beer and detained 70 people during a raid at Mary Anderson floating restaurant in Narayanganj on Monday.

The joint raid was conducted by the Detective Branch (DB) and Fatullah Police for one and a half hours from 8:30pm to 10pm on Monday night. During the raid, 81 cartons of foreign beer with 23 cans in each, and four cartons of foreign wine _ each containing 10 bottles, were seized. 

Mominal Islam, inspector of special branch of district police, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune. He added that the drive was led by Additional Superintendent of Police (DB) Subas Chandra and directed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Harun-Or-Rashid. 

SP Harun said 70 people involved with the incident were detained during the raid at Mary Anderson. A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act. The detainees have been sent to jail.

“The anti-drug drives will continue with a view to make Narayanganj drug-free,” he added.
