Five Bangladesh Chhatra League  members at Jahangirnagar University were suspended by the university authorities after they were accused of  mugging people on campus.

On Saturday morning, the five Chhatra League students mugged Monir Hossain, son-in-law of the driver to the university’s pro-VC, Prof Nurul Alam, and tortured him on campus, demanding a Tk1 lakh ransom from his wife. University employees came upon the scene, rescued Monir, and detained the attackers.

On Sunday evening, the university’s disciplinary board convened and decided to suspend the five students. A four-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident and submit a report within seven working days.
