His last words: 'I can't breathe'

His namaz-e-janaza was held after the Friday prayers

Mirza Atikur Rahman, 42, from Sharenga area in Shariatpur worked at Scanwell Logistics Bangladesh Ltd as a senior executive officer on the 14th floor of the building.

His wife Annie Akter Poli said: “As usual Atiq went to office on Thursday and around 1:10pm called us, asking to pray for him. He said his office was on fire and filled with smoke. His last words were that he could not breath and then the call disconnected.”

His namaz-e-janaza was held after the Friday prayers. He was then laid to rest at his village graveyard.

He has left behind his mother, siblings, wife, and children to mourn his death.

Atikur had been living in Dhaka’s ECB Chattar Manikdi area for the past 15 years along with wife, 15-year-old daughter and four-year-old son.
