Update : 30 Mar 2019, 01:51 AM

Md Monjur Hasan, 49, from Naogaon’s Boalia, was confined to his office chair as he had lost the use of both legs in a road accident years ago.

While his colleagues ran out frantically, Monjur resigned himself to his fate, and decided to spend his last moments speaking to his family members over the phone.

In his last words to his younger brother Shimul, he said: “I do not think I will make it. I am a disabled person and I cannot leave the building. Tell everyone to pray for me. I am leaving, you guys stay well.”

Monjur lived in Dhaka’s Islampur area with his wife, son and daughter. Most of his relatives lived in Dhaka, while only his younger brother Shimul lived in Naogaon.

He used to work at Kashem Group of Industries as an administrative officer. His office was located at the 21st floor of FR Tower.

Monjur’s cousin Fazlur Rahman said: “I used visit him at his office whenever I went to Dhaka. When I saw the news, i suspected he would not be able to get out and later heard the news of his death.”
