Protests have erupted in two districts – Sunamganj and Madaripur – over the deaths of an Awami League and a Chhatra League leader on Wednesday.
In Sunamganj, protesters demanded the arrest and trial of the persons accused in connection with the killing of Awami League’s Jahangirnagar union unit general secretary, Joynal Abedin, in Sunamganj Sadar.
On Wednesday afternoon, demonstrators took out a procession from the district's Altaf Uddin Square to the deputy commissioner's office, and organized an hour-long human chain and sit-down protest.
After the protest, a memorandum was submitted to the deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police.

At the time, the speakers said the main accused in the murder case is yet to be caught and those who were arrested have not been taken into remand.
They demanded that others accused be brought to justice, failing which, a more rigorous protest campaign will be organized.
In Madaripur, district Chhatra League leaders and activists have threatened to shut down the town if the alleged killers implicated in the death of Limon Mazumder, vice-president of Chhatra League's Madaripur unit, are not arrested within 24 hours.

Demonstrators and residents took out a procession from Milon Cinema to the deputy commissioner's office, on Wednesday around 12pm.
Later, a memorandum was submitted to the deputy commissioner.
Speakers addressing the gathering, demanded the arrest of the culprits within the next 24 hours.
If no arrests are made, the speakers vowed to bring Madaripur town to a standstill. Also, if the ultimatum is not met, a bigger protest program was promised.
