After all the arrangements were made, the proctor cancelled the permission and pressured them to shutter all RUCSU Andolon Mancha activities
Students at Rajshahi University have claimed the administration has denied permission for a discussion program where economist and activist Prof Anu Muhammad was scheduled to speak.
According to the Rajshahi University Central Students Union (RUCSU) Andolon Mancha Convener Abdul Majid said they had plans to set up a discussion program for Monday where various teachers from Dhaka University, Chittagong University, and Rajshahi University were expected to speak. After all the arrangements were made, the proctor cancelled the permission and pressured them to shutter all RUCSU Andolon Mancha activities.
In a written statement given to the press, Majid said the proctor’s office also refused to grant them a meeting with the proctor to discuss the issue.
Majid described the university’s actions as “undemocratic and tyrannical” by not extending them the courtesy of any prior warning or discussions afterwards.
RU Proctor Dr Lutfor Rahman categorically denied the accusations saying he did not receive any application for permission.
