Eight units of firefighters brought the fire under control just after 9pm on Monday
A fire broke out at a local super market in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Monday evening, which took nearly three hours to be brought under control.
Witnesses and firefighters said the fire broke out at around 6:15pm in the warehouse of Anzir Apparels Ltd, a ready-made garment (RMG) factory located on the ground floor of Karim Super Market, a five-storey building in Ashulia’s Baipail area.
The flames quickly spread to adjacent areas.
Upon receiving information, two units of firefighters from Ashulia DEPZD fire station rushed to the spot and started to douse the fire. Later, they were joined by six more units.
The firefighters are able to bring the blaze under control at around 9:10pm, Abdul Hamid, station officer at Ashulia DEPZD fire station, told the Dhaka Tribune.
The Fire Service officials could not give any estimates of damages, or any information on possible casualties.
