During primary interrogation, the arrested confessed to being engaged in gold bar smuggling
The Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested two smugglers from the city's CRB area and seized 100 gold bars worth Tk4.45 crore from their possession on Sunday.
The arrested were identified as Lavu Shaha, alias Pralay Kumar Saha, 59, and Bilal Hossain, alias Quader, 28.
Acting on a tip-off, a DB police team conducted a drive in the CRB area under Kotwali police station and arrested the two with the gold bars. Each gold bar weighs 116.62 grams. Police also seized a private car from their possession during the drive.
During primary interrogation, the arrested confessed to being engaged in gold bar smuggling.
A case was filed with Kotwali police station against the arrested.
