They were picked up in Ajhoir area, with many Jihadi books and leaflets in their possession, around 1:30am on Tuesday.

The detainees are Bairul, 34, son of Nazrul Islam of Furshedpur village of Nachol upazila; and Shafiqul Islam, 48, son of Mamtaz Hossain of the same village.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Chapainawabganj RAB 5 Camp Commander Squadron Leader Sayed Md Abdullah Al Murad said: “Acting on a tip-off about a secret meeting attended by six-to-seven JMB members, a special team of ours conducted a drive in a guava garden of Ajhoir area and detained the two; while four-to-five JMB members managed to flee scene.”

“During initial interrogation, the detainees confessed that all of them are active members of JMB’s Gayere Ehsan wing,” he said.

A case has been filed against the duo with Nachol police station, the ASP added.
