An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Ashulia police station has been killed, and three other policemen have been injured, in a road accident in Ashulia area of Savar.

The incident occurred on Abdullahpur-Baipail Highway in Narsinghapur area on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Jashim Uddin, 28, son of Moksed Chaprashi from Grambandi village of Madaripur.

The injured police members are Dulal Talukder, Anik, and Nazmul.

According to police sources, Jashim—along with other policemen—were heading back to the station in a police pick-up van after completing their duty in the morning.

The incident took place when the driver of the police van lost his control over the steering and hit a rod-laden stationary truck, from behind.

Due to the collision, ASI Jashim was hit by the edge of an iron rod protruding from the truck’s body. He was taken to the nearby women and children's hospital where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.

Confirming the matter, Ashulia police station Inspector (OC, Probe) Jabed Masud said the deceased’s body is being kept at the police station and will be handed over to the family members.
