The lives of readymade garment (RMG) workers are often dominated by extensive toil and little recognition. With this in mind, the authorities of RMG factory SQ Celsius Ltd have organized an event for their employees, titled “Agrajatra,” where workers were invited to share their success stories.

Thousands of employees from all units of the factory took part in the annual program, which also included various competitions and cultural performances. A number of awards were handed out to the employees.

Addressing the event, linking machine operator Faruk Hossain said: “I am able to produce more products than other workers as I try to maintain my work hours properly.”

“I follow the entry and exit times strictly, and work attentively without paying any heed to the business of other workers. I also do not take any leave without a valid reason,” he added.

Trimming machine operator Shahnaz Aktar said: “The more I work, the more money I earn. Despite working in a garment factory, I was able to earn more salary than a second-class governmental official. I work hard so that I can live a comfortable life with my family.”

Al Amin, another linking machine operator, said: "We are always excited to hear the success stories of our colleagues at the yearly event. It encourages us to keep moving forward. Those of us who advanced in this career never looked back. This event serves as an inspiration, entertainment, and motivation for all of us.”

Mending operator Shahnewaz Akter said: “I have provided quality education for my son Anwar Hossain, despite a lot of financial hardship. All of his hard work has paid off, as he earned a GPA-5 in the primary school certificate (PSC) examinations.

Knitting Inspector Shahinur Akter said that her daughter Happy Akter also secured a GPA-5 in the Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinations.

The children of both the workers received awards from the factory authorities, and incentives for other workers were announced at the event. Furthermore, Closeup singer Salma and DJ Sonika performed at a cultural show.

Chief guest of the event and Chief People's Officer (CPO) of SQ Group Warisul Abid said: “In a bid to motivate production line workers, we arrange a number of incentive programs for them. Awards were also handed out to workers at the program to mark the 25th anniversary of SQ Group.”

Deputy Chief People’s Officer Johan Ahmed, Chief Operating Officer of SQ Celsius Unit-1 Amanur Rahman Khan, Chief Operating Officer of SQ Celsius Unit-2 Humayun Mostak, General Manager (operation) Chrishanta Senerath, and Senior Manager (administration) of SQ Group FM Niaz Elahi Khan were also present in the program, among others.
