Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim told the Chittagong Development Authority to accelerate development works with sincerity and integrity, without any disruption.
Admiring Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for allocating the highest budget for Chittagong after Dhaka, the Minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given top priority to the development of Chittagong.
The Minister was exchanging views with officials and employees of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) at a meeting on Saturday.
"Chittagong received the highest budgetary allocation after Dhaka. In some cases, the allocation is more than the capital. All should remain careful so that the development works do not lose momentum,” minister said.
Directing the CDA to expedite the ongoing development works, the Minister said, "The CDA should speed up the work. Any sort of disruption to the development work is not acceptable. All should work with sincerity and integrity to take the country forward."
"Charters of duties have been specified for all the government agencies. Therefore, all government agencies should work keeping to the charters of duties. However, it should be borne in mind that the objective is the same. No excuse for the delay in development works will be accepted," the Minister added.
"Work is underway to address the waterlogging problem in the city. The clogged canals of the port city will be freed by a crash program before the advent of the monsoon to mitigate the waterlogging problem," said Abdus Salam, Chairman of CDA.
