Both of the accidents occurred Saturday morning
A mill worker has died and two others injured in separate road accidents in Jessore.
The deceased has been identified as Sultan Arefin, 40. He hailed from Ghoppara area under Kachua union in Jessore Sadar upazila, and worked in Ahad Jute Mill.
Sultan's brother Tuhin said: "On Saturday morning, Arefin was coming back home from the jute mill on his bicycle, when a speeding ambulance from the opposite direction ran him over on Jessore-Narail road in Hamidpur area.
"After he was admitted to Jessore General Hospital, the duty doctors declared him dead," Tuhin said.
Tuhin said the ambulance driver was talking on his mobile phone when he hit Sultan.
However, when contacted, Jessore Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Apurbo Hasan said he was not aware of the accident.
In a separate accident, the driver of a nasimon (motorized three-wheeler) and his companion were injured after the vehicle was upturned when one of its wheels got dislodged near Shatmail area, around 8am on Saturday.
The driver has been identified as Shahinur while his companion is Ekramul.
Shahinur said, he was going to the local bazar Saturday morning when one of the wheels of his vehicle got dislodged, upturning his vehicles. Locals rescued him and Ekramul and admitted them to Jessore General Hospital.
Emergency department doctor of Jessore General Hospital Dr Ahmed Tareque Shams said among the two, Ekramul's situation is critical.
