3 army men killed in Noakhali road accident

The deceased have been identified as Mamunul, Fayez and Feroz

A road accident has killed three army men and injured nine others, after their vehicle fell into a roadside ditch in Noakhali.

The accident took place in Subarnachar upazila’s Charbata union around 4:30pm on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Mamunul, Fayez and Feroz.

Charjabbar police station OC Shahed Uddin confirmed the news.

He said: “The accident happened when vehicle carrying the army personnel was making a way for another army truck, which was coming from the opposite side of the road. The men died on spot which an army medical team confirmed."

“The injured were given primary treatment at the Subarnachar Upazila Health Complex and later sent to Dhaka by a helicopter for better treatments, The bodies of the deceased were also sent along with the injured,” the OC added.

In 2013, the army was given responsibility to establish a military training ground and a versatile production centre at the Hatia upazila’s Jahaijar Char. From then the army vehicles started using the risky roads of the region.
