The sources also claimed that marital problems arose between the two in the past few years, mostly over Rozina’s job in the police department
A 30-year-old female police officer reportedly committed suicide in Dhunat upazila of Bogra district on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Rozina Khatun, sub-inspector (SI) of Dhunat police station.
According to sources, Rozina, daughter of Nannu Mian of Bahadurpur village in Singra upazila of Natore district, started her job as a police constable in 2017.
A year later, she got married to Hasan Ali, an assistant teacher of Domdama Vocational School in the same area. The couple had two children.
Promoted to SI on January 18 this year, Rozina was posted at Dhunat police station and lived in a rented house nearby.
Her husband stayed behind in Singra.
The sources also claimed that marital problems arose between the two in the past few years, mostly over Rozina’s job in the police department.
Rozina's husband used to torture her because of the job, they alleged.
On Thursday, Hasan came to visit her in Dhunat and left for home on Saturday.
During that time, the couple got locked in serious quarrels, neighbours said.
Rozina also posted her frustration over her conjugal life on Facebook, they added.
One Tuesday night, she reportedly took some poisonous tablets.
At first, she was taken to Dhunat Upazila Health Complex. As her condition deteriorated, the doctors there sent her to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Borga, where she died later that night.
Silimpur police outpost SI Aziz said her body was handed over to her family members after autopsy.
Dhunat police station Officer-in-Charge Faruqul Islam said the cause behind her suicide would be clear after an investigation.
An unnatural death case was filed with the police station.
