The order was given in response to the police’s request for a seven-day remand
Tanzila Haque Chowdhury Mitu, widow of Dr Mustafa Murshed Akash, has been placed on a three-day remand in connection with the "suicide" of her husband.
Magistrate Al-Imran of the Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate court gave the order on Monday, confirmed Kazi Shahbuddin Ahmed, assistant commissioner (prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP).
The three-day remand sentence was given in response to the request for seven-days of remand made by Chandgaon police station assistant Sub-inspector Abdul Kader, also the investigation officer assigned to the case, on Saturday.
Mitu, her father Anisul haque Chowdhury, her mother Shamim Shelly, her sister Sanzila Haque Chowdhury, and her alleged boyfriends Mahbubul Haque, and an Indian citizen referred to only as Patel, were accused in a case filed over Akash's death by his mother Jobeda Khanam.
On January 31, Akash, 33, reportedly took his life over a family feud in Chandgaon residential area in Chittagong, after an altercation with his wife over her alleged extramarital affairs.
According to family members, before he allegedly committed suicide, Akash shared photos of his wife on his Facebook profile, posting about her alleged illicit affairs before announcing his decision to end his life.
