Committees have already been formed at the district and sub-district levels in this regard
The new Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has said a total of 463 agencies have started working across the country to ensure secure and nutritious food for all.
He made the remarks in a discussion meeting at the conference room of the Naogaon deputy commissioner’s office after inaugurating a rally for National Food Safety Day in Naogaon on Saturday morning.
The minister said: “Our country is now self-sufficient in food. From now on, our main objective and challenge are to ensure safe and nutritious food for all. The government is working with zero tolerance policy to achieve these goals. Committees have already been formed at the district and sub-district levels in this regard.”
Additionally, restaurants and eateries will be brought under a grading system with a view to prevent them from serving adulterated foods, while deputy commissioners (DCs) and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) of the concerned areas will supervise the matter, he added.
With Naogaon Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mizanur Rahman on the chair, others present at the event included: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mahbubur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rashedul Huq and District Food Controller Kamal Hossain.
