A 15-year-old teenage girl has been raped in Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj.
The incident occurred in Pirarbari village of Kotalipara on Thursday night. The teenager's parents have accused Parimal Mallick, 22, and Kalu Mallick, 19—from the same village—of carrying out the act after the girl rejected Parimal's advances.
The girl was initially admitted to Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex—and afterwards to Gopalganj General Hospital—on Thursday, said Assistant Director of the hospital Dr Ashit Kumar Mallick.
The teenager's father, a vegetable seller, said: "My daughter is a performer in a Kirtan group from Khulna. She came to visit Gopalganj two days ago, and in the evening she was helping me with my trade in Pirarbari bazar.
"Around 9pm on Thursday, while my daughter was returning from the bazar, Parimal and Kalu abducted her," he said. "Then they took her to a nearby place and raped her. When she secretly contacted her elder sister using her phone, the rapists snatched her phone and beat her up."
When the girl lost consciousness, the miscreants fled the scene, leaving her there, her father said. Later, her parents rescued and admitted her to the hospital.
According to the girl, Parimal Mallick had been making advances on her through the phone, hiding his identity for a while. When she got to know of his identity, she rejected him. Enraged at the rejection, Parimal and his associate retaliated by raping her, she claimed.
Dr Ashit Kumar Mallick from Gopalganj General Hospital said: "After a physical examination, we will be able to determine whether the girl was raped or not."
Meanwhile, Kotalipara police station Officer-in-Charge Md Kamrul Farque said: "I am yet to have any knowledge of this matter. Legal action will be taken if anyone lodges a official complaint."
