Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has announced zero tolerance against corruption and irregularities at the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), and urged to make it a corruption-free organization.
He said this at a view exchange meeting with BRTA officials, at its headquarters in Banani, on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Quader, also the Awami League general secretary, said to make the BRTA corruption-free, the menace of brokers in and outside its offices must be stopped.
He warned that if any official or employee is found involved with brokers, stern action will be taken following investigation.
He also stressed the need for increasing manpower to enhance the quality of services as well as improving skills of the existing workforce, to turn BRTA into an effective and dynamic organization.
Responding to a reporter’s question, the minister said 63% work on the Padma Bridge Project has already been completed.
"One kilometre of the Padma Bridge is now visible, following the installation of 7th span," he said.
