Bangladesh Nari Mukti Kendra, a platform for women, formed a human chain at Maijdee Town Hall intersection of Noakhlai on Monday, protesting the recent gang-rape at Nabagram village under Dhanshiri union of Kabirhat upazila.
Freedom fighter Tarekiswar Debnath, member of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist) Noakhali district unit committee, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Organizing Secretary Taj Nahar Ripon, and Nari Mukti Kendra leader Muntahar Priti spoke at the programme, with Kendra organizer Swarnali Acharya in the chair.
The speakers demanded exemplary punishment of the accused in the gang-rape.
They also blamed the front organizations of the ruling Awami League for raping and harassing women and children across the country.

A 29-year-old mother of three was allegedly raped on Friday night by four men, after they forcefully entered her house and tied her and her children up.
Police arrested Zakir Hossain, 28, after the victim filed a case on Saturday naming him and three unnamed men, accusing them of raping her.
Zakir gave a confessional statement under Section 168 in Senior Judicial Magistrate Nabanita Guha’s court on Sunday afternoon about his involvement in the rape.
Based on his confession, the police conducted a drive at Nabagram village and arrested Abdur Rab Hossain Molla, 21, Md Selim, 25, and Harun-or-Rashid, 30.

Md Elias Sharif, superintendent of police in Noakhali, said the case was handed over to DB police.
