RAB has also detained two men for their suspected involvement in the matter
Police have found the dead body of a schoolboy from a lemon orchard near his home in Manikganj, four days after the seven-year-old was abducted.
The body was recovered by a joint team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 4 and Saturia police station, led by RAB 4 Major Abdul Hakim, from the orchard around 9am on Sunday.
RAB has also detained two men for their suspected involvement in the kidnapping, making of ransom demand and killing of Jubayer Hossain, son of Shamsul Haque.
The detainees were identified as Mohidul Islam, 23, and Uzzal Hossain, 24.
The child was kidnapped from near his home at Jalshuka village under Saturia upazila’s Dighulia union last Thursday. He was a first grader in Jalshuka Government Primary School.
Family members said after Jubayer was kidnapped, a woman on Friday called the family over phone and demanded Tk3 lakh as ransom.
The woman told the family to pay the money within 12 hours and they would let Jubayer go.
Later, Jubayer’s mother filed a general diary with Saturia police.
On Saturday, she waited for many hours at the drop off point — under an over bridge in Savar — with the ransom money, but the kidnappers did not show up.
Later on Sunday, the child’s body was found near the family’s home.
Saturia police station Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam said Jubayer’s body was sent to Manikganj District Hospital for an autopsy.
