The child was struck with a fishing spear, according to locals
A four-year-old child has been killed in a dispute over land in the Nasirnagar upazila, Brahmanbaria.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday morning in the Daulatpur village.
Locals said there had been a long-standing dispute over the ownership of a plot of land between Doulatpur residents Harun and Roman.
On Monday, the duo had an argument, which led to physical altercation. At one point, Roman’s supporters attacked Harun and his family.
During the altercation, Harun’s four-year-old daughter Amena Begum was struck with a fishing spear, which killed her on the spot. Harun’s wife Selina Akhter and three others were injured in the attack as well.
Upon receiving information, Nasirnagar police station OC Md Sajedur Rahman went to the spot with a team and brought the situation under control, local police sources said.
The situation was still tensed when this report was filed yesterday evening, and police were preparing to file a case on Amena’s death.
However, when contacted, Roman claimed that the allegations against him were fabricated.
“Harun killed his own daughter to trap me,” he further claimed.
