2 workers found dead in Khulna

Preliminary investigation suggests the workers may have been murdered

Police have found the bodies of two workers from a rented house in the Truck Terminal area of Khulna. The incident occurred around 9pm on Friday.

The deceased are Mehedi Hasan, 17 and Md Akhter, 45. Mehedi was found with his hands and feet bound, showing signs of suffocation. The police also found Akhter’s body hanging from the ceiling.

Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, Sonadanga model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Momtazul Haque said: “Acting on a tip-off, police arrived at the scene around 9pm and found two bodies.

“We have yet to find any clues behind the motives for the murders of yet.”

Sources said Md Akhter rented the place from owner Idris Ali on January 7. Mehedi used to work for Akhter, but he went missing on Thursday evening around 8pm.

Khulna Metropolitan Police spokesperson (media) Md Moniruzzaman said: “Preliminary inspection suggests that this may have been a murder. The police are looking into the matter.”
