Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized contraband tablets and others illegal products from the Hili border region.
The BGB conducted a raid and seized banned Indian tablets and various other products worth Tk16 lakh from the Muharapara border area in the early hours of Friday.
BGB Hili Bashudebpur Company Commander Subedar ATM Mostafa confirmed the news.
He said: “We were informed that illegal substances were brought from India into Bangladesh by a group of smugglers.
Based on the information, we conducted the raid at 4:30am Friday. Sensing the presence of BGB, the smugglers fled the scene leaving behind five sacks full of illegal goods.
The seized tablets include- 15,840 sexual stimulant tablets; 10,000 neosep tablets and 14 bottles of Johnson baby lotion.
The contraband was later handed over to the customs warehouse.
