3 held for attack on Jamuna TV journalists in Bogra

The members of Investigation 360 Degree team were also held captive

Police have arrested three mensuspected of assaultinga team of Jamuna TV journalists in Bogra.

The victims, journalists of private Jamuna TV and members of its Investigation 360 Degree team, were also held captive by the alleged assailants. 

The three arrested suspects were identified as Nur Mohammad, 38, Palash Kumar Das, 33, and Arku, 28.

Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune,Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge MM Badiuzzaman said: "We have arrested three suspects for beating up and holding the journalists captive. Jamuna TV Staff Reporter SM Ziahas filed a case with our police station over the assault.

"We will arrest the other accused very soon. Necessary steps will be taken upon further investigation," he added.

One of the victims, SM Zia, staff reporter and Investigation 360 Degree team member, said: "We were doing an investigative story on different drug rehabilitation centres across the country. 

"As part of our investigation, we went to Real Life Rehabilitation Centre around 12pm on Thursday. At first, the rehab centre employees, knowing our identity, let us in. But when we tried to film the irregularities at the centre, they got angry and started to assault me and my team members."

"At least eight to 10 people beat us up inside the rehab centre. Then they held us captive inside a room. We were later rescued by the Sadar police," he added.
