Four more testify in the Holey Artisan case

Four more prosecution witnesses completed their testimony on Tuesday in the Holey Artisan Bakery attack case that took place in Gulshan on July 1, 2016.

In the attack, five armed terrorists barged into the upscale Gulshan eatery and killed 20 hostages including 17 foreign nationals. They also shot dead two police officers.Judge Md Mujibur Rahman of the Dhaka Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal recorded the statements of the four witnesses – Tarun Gomez, Md Hossen, Md Lelin and Sanjay Barua. All four were employees at the restaurant.  

After recording the depositions, the court adjourned the trial proceedings till January 23.

With their testimony, a total of 211 out of 12 prosecution witnesses have given their depositions before the court in the case.

Defence lawyer Faruque Ahmed cross-examined them pointing out different questions from the statement of the prosecution witnesses.

Six out of the eight accused – Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi, Rakibul Hasan Rigan, Rashedul Islam, Sohel Mahfuz, Mizanur Rahman and Hadisur Rahman Sagor, now in jail were produced before the court during the hearing.
 
 Two other accused – Shahidul Islam Khaled and Mamunur Rashid Ripon—are on the run.

On July 23, the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police submitted the charge sheet accusing the eight accused in the case.
