Quoting family members, police say that a group of boys sexually harassed Halima while she was returning from polling centre with her mother
A madrasa girl has allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling in her house in the Sadar upazila of Jessore.
The deceased was identified as Halima Khatun, 13 - an eighth-grader of the Khankaye Wasiya Madrasa.
Quoting family members, police said on Sunday, while returning from polling centre with her mother, a group of boys sexually harassed Halima.
On Monday, her body was found hanging from the ceiling, in her house.
Police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue for autopsy, Kotwali police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sobhan Sharif said.
However, locals claim that Halima was in a relationship with a boy. She committed suicide after her family's disapproval.
Kotwali police station OC Apurba Hasan said, a case has been filed in the incident.
