Cox’s Bazar Returning Officer Md Kamal Hossain has said security in the remote hill areas of the district has been tightened in order to assure women’s right to vote.
He made the statement while speaking at a seminar titled “Nirbachone Narider Nirapod Ongshogrohone Shochetonota Briddhi” (“Increasing awareness by ensuring the participation of women in elections”) at a hotel in Cox’s Bazar around 11:30am on Saturday.
The seminar was presided over by Cox’s Bazar District Election Officer Md Bashir Ahmed. Also speaking at the event were- Election Commission Secretariat Deputy Secretary Saiful Haque, Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police ABM Masud Hossain and Additional District Magistrate Masudur Rahman Mollah, among others.
Earlier around 8:30am, an awareness rally took place in this regard, with many government and non-government officials in attendance.
