Update : 21 Dec 2018, 01:07 PM

A schoolgirl has allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling in her house at Lebugati village, in Manirampur Upazila of Jessore district.

The deceased was identified as Puja Das, 14—a ninth-grader of Kalarhat High School—and daughter of Pradeep Das, reports UNB.

Quoting family members, police said Puja's parents scolded her as she had failed to secure the marks they desired in the yearly examination.

Later, her body was found hanging from the ceiling, in her house, on Thursday.

Tripti Rani, Puja’s mother—also the headmistress of a government primary school—informed her husband of the matter.

Upon receiving information, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue for autopsy, Manirampur police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Altaf Hossain said.

An unnatural death case was filed with the Manirampur police station.
