The accidents took place in Gazipur, Feni and Noakhali
At least 11 people were killed and many others injured in separate road accidents in three districts of the country on Monday.
In Gazipur, five people were killed and ten others injured when a bus hit a human hauler, locally known as Leguna, in the Gazipur Sadar upazila in the morning.
The deceased were identified as ex-army officer Mizanur Rahman, 58, of Munshiganj district, Md Nazim Uddin, 60, Abdus Samad, 65, of Sirajganj district, Ratul, 18, and Majed Biswas, 38, of the Rajbari district.
Joydevpur police station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam said the accident took place when a bus, carrying workers of NZ Garments factory, hit a Leguna on the Rajendrapur-Kapasia road around 7:45am, leaving five passengers of the Leguna dead on the spot and 10 others injured.
Six of the injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital and four are undergoing treatment at the Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.
In Feni, four people were killed and five others injured in a head on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto rickshaw in the Dagonbhuiyan upazila of the district.
The accident occurred at 1:30 pm, said Officer-in-Charge of the Dagonbhuiyan police station Saleh Ahmed.
The deceased were identified as Khadija Begum, 45, her son Md Sahil, 12, her nephew Abdur Rahim, 3 and auto-rickshaw driver Md Ismail, 30.
“The killer bus was seized, but the driver fled,” the OC said.
The injured were sent to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital.
In Noakhali, two people were killed and three others injured on the Noakhali-Feni road in the Senbagh upazila when a passenger bus hit a CNG run auto-rickshaw in the afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Aleya Begum, 32, wife of Md Alauddin of Rajapur village and Ismail Hossain, 30, son of Abdul Matin of the Sreebordi village.
Senbagh police station Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman confirmed the incident.
