Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) seized Tk83.38 crore worth of smuggled goods, drugs, weapons, bullets and explosives, in November according to the law enforcement agency.
In a press release on Sunday, they said 15 pistols; 7 air-guns; one pipe gun, 77 rounds of bullet and 17 magazines and 6kg of gunpowder were sized, among other weapons and explosives.
The seized drugs included 11,48,094 yaba tablets; 6,524 bottles of foreign liquor; 387 litres of locally made liquor; 1,103 cans beer; 31,710 bottles of phensedyl, 864kg of marijuana, 1kg of heroin, 12,580 pieces of addiction related injections.
Other smuggled goods include 7.2kg gold; 4,505 sari, 947 three piece womens’ clothing; 440 metres of fabrics; 2,176 readymade garments; 12 pickup vans; 6 CNG motorized auto rickshaws; 34 motorcycles; 4,156 cubic feet of wood and 7,213kg of tea leaves.
BGB said 224 people were accused of drug trading, trafficking and smuggling and 320 Bangladeshi citizen were detained for illegally crossing the border last month.
From January to November, BGB seized different types of smuggling goods and drugs worth Tk854.04 crore.
