2 killed in 'gunfights' in Cox's Bazar, Kushtia

In Cox's Bazar an alleged pirate has been killed in a “gunfight” with RAB.

The incident took place in Sonadia Parabon area of Maheshkhali upazila earlier on Monday morning.

RAB recovered two guns, eight bullets, and six bullet shells from the spot.

The deceased was identified as Abul Hasan Manik, 30.

He was the son of Ledu Mia, a resident of Karla Para village under Kutubdia upazila.

Maheshkhali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pravesh Chandra Dhar confirmed the incident.

RAB gave Abdul’s body to Maheshkhali police station around 8:30am. 

Later the body was sent to Cox’s Bazar sadar hospital for autopsy.

In a separate incident in Kushtia, a suspected robber has been killed in a reported gunfight between two gangs of robbers in Kushtia’s Bheramara upazila.

The incident occurred early on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Rasel, 35. 

Based on information that there was a gunfight between two gangs of robbers at Hawakhali field, a team of police conducted a drive around 1:30am, said Bheramara police station OC Khandaker Shamimuddin Ahmed.

Police recovered a pistol, three bullets, and two magazines from the spot, added the OC.
