The accidents happened in Tangail and Gopalganj
At least four people were killed in road crashes across the country on Wednesday.
In Tangail, an elderly couple was killed following a head-on collision between a goods-laden truck and an engine-run van at Toildhara Bhatabari intersection in Safipur upazila in the morning.
The deceased were identified as retired school teacher Motiur Rahman, 85, and his wife Achia Khatun, 75. They were residents of the Indarjani area.
Amir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Safipur police station, said a truck hit the van the couple was travelling on while they were travelling to Safipur upazila headquarters to collect Motiur’s pension. Five people were injured in the incident.
The injured were taken to Safipur Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared the couple dead.
In Gopalganj, a farmer was killed when a motorcycle hit him in Gopalganj Sadar upazila.
Deceased Monoj Poddar, 40, was the son of Monimahan, a resident of Tetulia village.
Gopalganj Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Monirul Islam said a motorcycle hit Monoj on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat road in the morning while he was returning home, leaving him dead on the spot.
The body was sent to the Gopalganj Sadar Hospital morgue, the OC said.
In Jhenaidah, an unidentified woman was killed in an accident on the Jhenaidah-Jessore Highway in Keyabagan area of Kaliganj upazila of the district.
Barabazar Highway police station Sub-Inspector Kalipado said the woman, aged about 50, may have been run over by a truck in the morning.
The body was sent to Jhenaidah Hospital morgue, he added.
