Transport workers have closed down bus services to 16 districts of the northern region from Natore.
They went on strike on Thursday morning, in protest of the assault of a fellow bus driver.
As a result, general passengers are majorly inconvenienced.
Acting General Secretary of Natore Bus-Minibus Transport Workers Union Akram Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune, members of Rajshahi district Transport Workers Union had been harassing Natore's drivers in different ways. Despite being informed of the matter, Rajshahi authorities have not addressed it.
On Friday morning, Rajshahi district Transport Workers Union members assaulted a Desh Travels driver and ripped off his shirt at one point. Thus, the Natore Bus-Minibus Transport Workers Union members started a strike in protest.
Akram claimed they were trying to resolve the matter with the help of local lawmaker Shafiqul Islam Shimul, and are optimistic that it will be resolved quickly.
