Three members died on the spot and five others succumbed to their injuries on the way to DMCH
Eight people from the same family have been burned to death in afire that broke out at a house in the Aramnagar area of the Joypurhat district.
A local poultry trader Momin Hossain’s house went up in flames caused by an electric short-circuit, killing three on the spot and five others on the way to Dhaka.
The deceased are Momin Hossain, 45, his wife, Porina Banu, 30, their four children, Brishty, 14, Hashi, 12, Khushi, 12 and Taimul Islam Nur, 6 and also Momin’s father, Dulal Hossain, 60 and mother Momena Begum, 52.
The incident took place at 9:30pm on Wednesday. The fire originated in the kitchen from an electric short- circuitfrom a rice cooker confirmed Joypurhat Fire Service Warehouse Inspector Sirajul Islam.
According to relatives and neighbours of the victim family, at 9:30pm, Wednesday, a fire in Momin’s house broke out. After hearing the family screaming they rushed to the house and attempted to rescue the members by breaking the walls. After a while, two teams of fire-fighters came and managedto bring the fire under control in a matter of hours.
By that time Momin, his daughter Brishty and his mother Momena were found dead. His wife, father and other three children were found with severe burns and were immediately admitted to the Joypurhat Hospital.
As their condition reached a critical stage, they were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital that night for better treatment but succumbed to their burn injuriesen route, in the early hours of Thursday.
Joypurhat Superintendent of Police (SP) Rashidul Hassan, District Commissioner Zakir Hossain and local MP Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud visited the scene after getting the news of the incident.
