The BNP leader was arrested in front of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka around 5pm on Wednesday
Police have arrested the BNP’s Chittagong unit President Dr Shahadat Hossain in Dhaka.
He was arrested in front of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court premises around 5pm on Wednesday.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Dr Shahadat’s Personal Secretary Maruful Haque Chowdhury said: "Dr Shahadat when he was coming out of the chamber of Advocate Sanaullah Mia. Jubo Dal Chittagong city unit’s former vice-president Shamshul Haque was also arrested at the time.”
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman told UNB: “A team of detectives picked up Dr Shahadat from the Dhaka CMM Court premises around 5pm. He was arrested in a case filed in Chittagong.”
BNP chairperson's Media Wing member Shamsuddin Didar said: “The BNP leader went to meet Advocate Sanaullah at the CMM Court to seek legal advice.”
