Each of the primary schools participating in the School Level Improvement Project received Tk40,000
The Jhenaidah District Primary Education Office has issued show cause notices to the headmasters of 100 government primary schools in the district—for failing to submit pay slips for the School Level Improvement Project.
A total of Tk36,280,000 was provided to the schools in June, for the project, and each school received Tk40,000, reports UNB.
Allegations of embezzlement have been raised against some schools—following which the district education officers have asked the schools’ respected headmasters to provide pay slips for the sanctioned money.
District Primary Education Officer Sheikh Mohammad Akteruzzaman signed the show cause notices.
There are 907 primary schools that benefit from the School Level Improvement Project. Of them: 214 schools are in Sadar upazila, 151 in Kaliganj, 74 in Kotchandpur, 153 in Maheshpur, 180 in Shailakupa, and 235 schools in Harinakundu upazila—of the district.
When contacted, the district primary education officer said a letter will be sent to the deputy director of Khulna zone to take necessary action against those who failed to submit the balance sheet in time.
