A mobile court has sentenced a youth to one year of imprisonment for cheating during the Rajshahi University (RU) admission test for the academic year 2018-19.

Md Monsur Rahman, the accused, had been a student of RU’s history department  for the 2010-11 academic year. He was detained after it was discovered that he was taking the test on behalf of someone else.

Monsur hails from Monigram area under Bagha upazila of Rajshahi.

Lutfor Rahman, the proctor of RU, told the Dhaka Tribune: "Monsur was detained from room no 425 of Ismail Hossain Siraji building during the 'B' unit admission test – that was being held from 8am to 9am on Tuesday – after we found he was a proxy for someone else."

Later, the mobile court sent him to jail, the proctor said.
