Transport workers in several districts across the country staged demonstration to press their eight-point charter of demands including amendments to the Road Transport Act-2018.

Madaripur transport workers organize a human chain in front of Deputy Commissioner Office around 10am demanding amendments to the Road Transport, reports our correspondent Monzur Hossain.
Presided over by Madaripur Transport Workers Union President Khandoker Khairul Hasan Nitul , a discussion was held on the occasion.
Among others, the Transport Workers Union General Secretary Mizanur Rahman, Vice-President Faizul Sharif, Join Secretary Kabir Bepari, Organizing Secretary Mizanur Rahman Chunnu and Office Secretary Abbas Molla spoke the programme.
Later, a memorandum was submitted to Madaripur DC Azharul Islam.
Tauhid Uz Zaman, our Jessore correspondent said, Bangladesh Road and Transport Association organized a protest rally around 11am at Monihar Bus Terminal demanding to change the act.
Hundreds of workers took to the street led by the association President Mamunur Rashid.
When the workers were observing their programme peacefully, police attacked the rally, said Mamunur Rashid.
Later, the agitated workers blockaded the road half an hour causing traffic jam.
According to reports of our correspondent Abdullah Al Numan, Tangail Bus-Coach-Minibus Workers Union held a rally at New Bus Station in the district around 11am to protest Road Transport Act.
Among others, the program was spoken by the union President Ahsanul Haque Pintu, its General Secretary Babu Chitto Ranjan Sarker, Executive Secretary Golam Maola and Organizing Secretary Dilip Kumarm Das in presence of hundreds of workers.
Syedpur Transport Workers Union organized a rally in Nilphamari intersection in the morning, said our correspondent Taieyb Ali Sarker.
Bangladesh Sarak Poribohon Federation (Road and Transport Federation) Central leader Akter Hossain Badol, workers leader Altaf Hossain, Momotaz Ali and Manik Hossain among others spoke protesting the act.
“If the government does not take any initiative to amend the law, we will enforce strong program,” said Badol.
Bogra district unit Motor Workers Union and Truck Workers Union organized human chain separately demanding amendments to the Road Transport Act-2018 in the town around 12am, reports Nazmul Huda Nasim, our correspondent.
Transport workers leader Khalilur Rahman Truck Workers Union of and Ranju Pramanik of Motor Workers Union spoke on the occasion.
