Unknown miscreants have vandalized a Hindu temple and idols of gods and goddesses at Crescent Jute Mill in the Khalishpur industrial area of Khulna on Friday night.
Khalishpur police station officer-in-charge (OC), Sardar Mosharraf Hossain, confirmed the matter.
He said that on Friday night, religious worshipers completed worship in the temple and went home.
Following that, miscreants entered the temple and vandalized some idols, including a Durga and Ganesh idol.
On Saturday morning, locals found the idols in the temple desecrated.
Khulna City Corporation's (KCC) mayor, Talukder Abdul Khalek, visited the site after receiving information about the destruction of the idols.
The process of identifying and arresting the perpetrators is underway, said the police OC.
