During the chase-counter chase three BNP men were arrested
BNP’s human chain has been prevented by police in Brahmanbaria.
The police, on Friday afternoon, chased BNP activists when they were preparing for a procession and human chain.
According to police, locals, and BNP activists, the human chain was supposed to take place at 12pm in front of the press club, to demand the immediate release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, as well as Brahmanbaria District BNP Vice-President and Central Economics Affairs Secretary Engineer Khaled Hossain Mahbub Shyamol.
To take part in the program, BNP activists were gathering at the city’s Shimrailkandi Rail Line area. Upon receiving information, Brahmanbaria police went to the scene and dispersed the party-members.
At the time, BNP members threw stones at the police, and the police, in return, chased them away from the rail line.
Brahmandaria Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar circle) Md Rezaul Kabir said: “The BNP men were trying to create chaos in the area. Police chased them away and we will not allow them to create any chaos.”
During the chase-counter chase three BNP members were arrested.
